Today is day is only day 4, but it seems like we have been here much longer. We woke up to a blue sky and bright sun; but don't be fooled, today was – 35 degrees. We walked back from lunch, which is no more than a block; halfway back, we felt our nose inside and out freeze, which is the strangest feeling. By the time we stepped in to the hotel lobby we were in pain; guess we won't be walking again in a hurry. Sunday at the baby house is very quiet and there seem to be a lot less people walking around. When we arrived today the baby was in the big play pen just rolling around. He seemed happy to see us. It was time for breakfast and he ate a bowl of cereal as big as I could eat and we did better today with the tea cup; it was different juice, smelled like carrot. As I lifted the cup to smell it, the care giver told me to try it. I smiled, but then she insisted. Guess I won't be smelling any food or drink in the future!!!!!
He eats so well; next they took him to change hi. I followed; I could not wait to see him without all the layers. He has the cutest little pudgy arms and legs, when he is dressed he looks so much bigger. Today he only had 4 layers and 1 hat, yesterday he had a least 5 and 2 hats and a hood. It’s a wonder he can move. In his group they don't wear as many clothes, just when they leave the room. Yesterday they were going to put him in a snow suit and hat. He really is such a happy boy; we played a lot it really seems funny to think he is to be our son, we feel so lucky to have been allowed to adopt him. Each time I have to remind my self he is coming home with us, not this trip, but soon.
Today as we drove in the gates of the baby house, I could not help and wonder if his birth mother ever walks past, and if she does, does she wonder how he is? It brings tears to my eyes to think what a hard choice she made for her son, and I would love to tell her we will do our best to be the best parents to him. I would think it was one of the hardest things a mother had to do and I will pray she has peace in her heart.
He is enjoying all the new toys but gets very tired after about an hour. He then likes me to walk around with him on my shoulder and that’s how he falls asleep; so we take turns sitting and holding him and watching him sleep.
We are becoming very adventurous with our food choices, today we went to a Georgian cafe and tried al sorts of new and interesting things; some good some and some just okay. It is very difficult to know what is what when we order, but we have not had anything too bad. The ice cream is really good and so is the coffee; just wish I had brought my stainless steel cup.
I really is wonderful to see Isabel with the baby, she really loves him and is so happy to finally have a little brother. You will notice we still call him the baby; we do not have a name for him yet or a least one we can agree on. I had a name picked out, but he does not look like a G or a S; who knows we have a little time to decide.
ISABEL'S POST.
The baby goes to sleep very easily. He goes to sleep around a certain time on our visit. My mom makes a big mess when she feeds him. She always spills the "tea" down the front of his shirt, but today the juice/tea was thicker so it only spilled a little. The baby never wants you to sit down. If you sit down he starts to do a little cry to make you get up and it works. You can only sit with him when you are holding him and he is asleep. His arms are very pudgy, like someone left a tight rubber band on his wrist to long! His arms are the exact same width as his wrist with a lot of extra skin on, but still he is adorable.
Outside is so cold that the inside of my nose freezes and it is not pleasant feeling when you have to blow your nose. The wind goes right in your face which makes it seem colder. I have to say my mom and I have been adventurous with the food. We ate the meat, and it tasted fine, and we are still alive and not sick.
This afternoon I was able to take photos of the baby group and where the baby sleeps, so many cute babies all happy to see a new face, we have noticed that the afternoon visit the baby is very tired. We try very hard to not let him fall asleep, so he can take a nap when we return him to the group. He is trying very hard to sit up, but he has on so many layers it makes it a little harder.
We are now back at the hotel; Isabel is watching a movie and Dominic is reading. Huh, no Target for me to visit; not sure what to do…too early to Skype anyone, may be a nap?
