February 5, 2010
Well today seems even colder than yesterday if that can be possible, very windy. We were picked up after breakfast to go to the morning visit at the baby house. When we got there, our sweet boy was waiting to be fed so I quickly washed my hands and put on my lab coat (always wanted to be a DR). He seems to be very mellow while all the other babies are crying, he is just chilling. The bowl of cereal was huge, but he ate it all and drank his tea. Although the care givers had fed as least 4 children and I had just finished feeding 1, I was trying to go fast because they were watching me. I guess not fast enough though, and then they took him to change him because I had spilled all the tea over him!!!!!!
Next we went upstairs to the play room. We are not allowed to put him on the floor as they say it is too cold. We found this out after we already did it. He seemed really tired, he didn’t want to play, was just happy to be held and after a few minutes he was asleep and that’s how he spent the rest of our visit. Sad for him but really nice for me as I got to really sit and cuddle him and watch him as he slept and wonder how his life is already changing and how happy we are to finally meet him. So many new firsts for him. All to quickly the visit was over and we went back to the hotel to give Kulash some papers we need for court, hopefully everything is in order,
Lunch was next. Our translator Kim took us to a Russian restaurant. The food was really good and even though I had no idea what I was eating, I do not think it was horse!!!!!!!! Even Isabel managed to find 1 or 2 things she liked.
I really wish we could explore a little, but it is just too cold, maybe next week. People here must be used to the weather because everybody walks and the women still wear the high heels.
The days seem to fly by. We headed back to the baby house for visit# 2, again I was able to feed him his lunch; the same meat and potatoes that Henry, and I am sure all the babies in Kaz, eat. It brought back very fond memories of my time in Uralsk. He was far more talkative this afternoon and was more interested in the toys and is almost sitting up. You just cannot leave him. He also loves to roll around if given the chance; he is really very smiley and just seems to be an easy baby. It still feels so strange to hear the care givers call me his mama, but I will get used to it.
Isabel is in love with him and carries him around like a little mother. He loves to pull her hair. I love to watch them together. She has wanted a sibling for so long it will be wonderful to see their bond grow. She is so good with him and he laughs at all the things she does, it really is so cute to watch. Again, towards the end of the visit he began to fuss a little and I walked with him for a few seconds and he went out like a light and boy does he snore; he and Dominic already have a few things in common..
Hi Emma, Ashley, Grace, and Olivia! Wish you were here!
Even though this is only day 2, he seems to have already changed. Yesterday you could only see 1 tooth, today another one popped up ,and when he smiles they look so cute. We feel very lucky to have been given this chance to be this little boy’s parents.
We are all going to bed early tonight, yesterday I took a 1 hour nap and was awake until 2.30. Today we will go to dinner and hopefully have an early night, but if I happen to go on FB well the rest is history!!!!!!!!!
Isabel's Post.
The baby is so cute. He has no hair, big round eyes, a small mouth, and a small nose. I was so happy to meet him especially since I didn’t think I was meeting him that day. He is not very interested in a lot of things. He doesn’t like you to sit down while you are holding him, he likes to be moved. He is only eight months. We did not think we were getting that young. He sleeps very easily! All you need to do is when he looks tired rock him and pat him. He likes to bounce a lot. He can not sit up or stand or crawl. I am so happy to have a baby brother!
