Well today when we woke up I looked out of the window to see the trees covered with ice. The heat wave we had been enjoying has left and in its place are -30 temps. Again it takes your breath away as you go outside. The good thing is because it is so cold it will not snow which will enable us to fly to Almaty on Saturday to return to NY on Sunday as planned.
Breakfast was the usual, full of good choices. Still cannot understand eating cakes for breakfast, but I think I could get used to it. After 2 cups of coffee we head back to the room to get ready to visit Ollie. I now find myself counting the days we have left here and they are going way too fast for me. Is there any way to just slow the time a little? I wake up each morning feeling a little sad that this is the last few days in Semey. Ollie has changed so much; we wonder if he will remember us on the return trip. I am getting teary eyed just thinking about our last visit which may have to be Thursday because court is Friday at 11.30. Maybe we will be able to make our afternoon visit. We really want to see him and even though he won’t understand when we tell him his parents will be back, it will also be the first visit we are really his MOMMY and DADDY.
Today when we went to feed him, he was in the baby walker playing with the toys. I spoke very softly and said good morning mommy's boy. I could see by his cheeks that he was already smiling, then he leaned back and looked up at me with his big eyes; it melted my heart. In just such a short time he has really stolen my heart. How did that happen so fast? I also know it is just the beginning of a life time of love. This morning he was again toted after a little jumping. How this boy likes to jump even when he is so tired he can still manage to jump. We have found that if we let him sleep about 10 mins he stays awake a little longer and takes a later morning nap, which in turn works better as he then gets up closer to our next visit. Today we tried bubbles. Again the first time we tried them he had no interest in them. Today he was so happy to try and catch them. We felt bad as he could not understand where they went and why they popped when he touched them. Isabel loves to sing round and round the garden song. Ollie loves it and always gives the biggest smile as it gets close to the end.
We are busy getting things ready for court. Yesterday we went to print some pictures of our bonding time, we put them in the album and found out we need a couple more, so we decided to walk to park city to print them as Victoria was at the notary. How difficult can it be to print 4 photos [impossible when you only speak English and the store owner only speaks Russian] Dominic tried to write Feb 13 on a piece of paper. Unlike our photo stores here, they do not have the self serve machine; somebody helps you, which is great if you speak the same language!!!!!! I now have a lot more patience for people who do not speak English. We would really be lost without Victoria. We almost got 700 prints instead of the few we needed. Needless to say we will go back in the morning with Victoria. We had to laugh after what were we thinking, truth be told we were not thinking!!!!!.
I took some pictures of the hospital where Ollie was born. I will post them and my thoughts about seeing my sons birthplace once our adoption is final.Next we went to buy some Kaz hats and Kaz chocolate we are trying to re pack and not add to many extras.
We are now back at the hotel and may go down stairs for coffee and dessert, ugh cooking dinner next week! This has been so nice not to have to think of what to make every night, no house chores; a real vacation from home.
OK got to run I want to work on my speech before it gets too late, until tomorrow.
