Happy Valentine's Day from our side of the world to yours, and YES, today is only -15, and believe it or not it really feels warm. I was able to step out of the hotel and not cough and lose my breath as I walked out; I even did not need to zipper my jacket, after all I am wearing 3 other layers.
Today we found out we may be able to go to court this trip but may need to stay a few extra days will let you know more as we find out.
Sunday at the baby house is always far more relaxed the director is not there and it just seems a little different. When we arrived, our little one was under a very active little girl but not saying a thing; I went over and said hello he turned right around and gave me a huge smile. He must have run out of diapers because he was wearing the cloth wrapped around him and yes he was very wet. They said I could change him, how do I wipe him and with what? So, I called Victoria and they showed me how to hold him over my arm and hold him under the faucet to wash him. Live and learn. He seemed to sense I was not a pro and wiggled. I was so afraid I would drop him since he was slippery from the soap, but we managed. He was so happy to see his feet and in the mouth they went, it was so cute to watch.
Now playtime begins. Each day he allows us to see a little more of his personality, which is so wonderful to see, and we know we have a lot to learn about each other, but it is a beginning!!!!!!!!!
Today we brought a book from our dear friends Lea and Dylan. Thanks guys. He loved to sit and look at it; maybe it is his first book. So many firsts to look forward, today being his first Valentines Day; this time next year we will look back on this day with the fondest memories of a very special day in a very special place.
I know we keep saying how he is changing, but you would just not believe it if you did not see it. We have heard this before, but to see it first hand is amazing and some thing I will always look back on.
We are now getting ready to take our walk, will it feel like spring, we will let you all know.
Sorry to say we did not get to see if it is like spring, we had to sign some papers so our team here is able to get things started so we can apply for court. Still do not have a date yet, but will let you know when we do. So, that was a lot more important than a walk. There is always tomorrow, let’s hope it stays warm.
This afternoon’s visit went well although our little guy was tired, he did not have a good nap, not sure why. Dominic was doing the flying baby with him; he loved it but we did get a few strange looks from people passing by. He loves this and laughs so loud and hard even when he is tired. He also loves to look out of the window, watching the world go by. It is a little harder to keep his attention when he is tired, all he wants to do is put his head on your shoulder and rest, but the care givers want him to stay awake so he can go to sleep with the group. We understand this because when the babies are sleeping they have to clean the playpens, wash the floor, iron, and generally tidy up before the babies wake up and need to eat again. No watching a soap opera here. They do not have an easy job!!!!!!!
Oh well, as your day begins, ours is ending. We are going to the Russian Cafe tonight. Last night we had great pizza; thanks Shanna and Ashlee for suggesting it. We will be going back soon.
ISABEL'S POST.
Today we put a BABY'S FIRST VALENTINES DAY bib on the baby. We will probably name him Sawyer. Ugh! I do not like that name. He was very happy today. Today is much warmer than any other day we have been here. Only -15. It may seem cold back in America, but here it seemed like spring. We did not have to zipper our coats. Of course...I still had to wear a hat because children in Kazakhstan are not supposed to go out without a hat until like Summer! You don’t really feel the spring there because it is cold until like the end of April beginning of March. The ice has melted of the inside of our window in the hotel room. Now there is a big puddle of water by the window. We keep drinks there. It is actually colder by the window then in the fridge. Who knew!
