April 20, 2008
It is our first full day in Petro and we did not do a thing! We went to bed about 11:00 last night and we still slept until about noon. Hopefully we are getting adjusted so we don't miss any appointments.
The apartment we are in is small but it is clean, tidy and comfortable. Oleg told us we would have English channels on TV. He is right, but they are all voiced over in Russian so we still can't understand. We have spent the day trying to catch up on email and research on the internet. We only have dial up connection so it moves pretty slow.
Maria is supposed to pick us up around 8:30 tomorrow morning. We will go to the Ministry of Education to answer questions and then should be given approval to visit the orphanages. We were told there are three in town so we can visit them all. They are broken down as the baby orphanage which to age 3, then there is the children's which is age 3 to 7 and then the boarding school is 7 to 17 years old.
As exciting as it has been so far I think tomorrow will be the most exciting.
